.Set the stage for the "tin" anniversary (yes even tin can be fun). Here are some ideas: attach a label around a tin can.

•Attach a recipe card indicating the party details to a metal cookie cutter with a lovely ribbon; set the invitation inside of a pie tin. Or, host a "Tinsel Town" themed party where the invitation arrives inside a metal movie film canister.

•For decorating, line the path to the reception with tin can luminaries (tin cans filled with sand and candles). You can also use this to line outside patios, windowsills, etc. If you are going with the Tinsel Town theme, consider renting a giant spotlight for the front of the anniversary reception site. As guests arrive, have a red carpet and a mock "paparazzi" there to snap photos and shout questions as the guests make their way to the party. Once inside, have the reception site decorated in Hollywood glam: from black chair covers, a black and white dance floor, movie posters, stars on the restroom doors. Or go more casual and have a theme reminiscent of the famous Brown Derby with caricatures of celebrities all over (perhaps have a caricature artist on hand to do caricatures of the guests as well).

•Have a buffet where tin cups are used (go to a camping store) and utensils are wrapped up in checkered cloths in tin pails.

•Centerpieces can include plants or flowers in tin containers.

•For tin-inspired activities, consider gathering guests into the kitchen (if reception is in a private home) for tin cooking like making and baking pies, cutting out cookies with tin cookie cutters.

•Party favors for guests can include mini homemade pies in tin pie pans, aluminum - wrapped photo frames or the centerpieces on the tables.

25th Wedding Anniversary (Silver):

Although many of the ideas for the Golden Wedding Anniversary may apply here, there are a few ideas unique to the Silver Wedding Anniversary.

•Place 25 red roses in a silver vase at the guest book table entrance.

•Centerpieces can include 3 photos per table of the couple and their family throughout the years (in silver frames, of course).

•Silver star sticks can be placed in table arrangements for glitter, glam and dimension.

•For the cake, have a silver charm cake (where silver charm fortunes are baked into the cake). Charms are symbolic of certain fortunes (i.e. a heart charm signifies true love). These charms are attached to ribbons and placed under the edge of the cake for a charm pull. Ask your caterer or baker about this option.

•For smaller silver wedding anniversary celebrations, consider giving out silver dollars as party favors. Present it in a small gift box to make the presentation more dramatic.

50th Wedding Anniversary (Gold):

Sometimes the tendency is to go over the top with the color gold on everything, which can border on gaudy and overkill if one isn't too careful. Let the gold be the accent to the day in subtle but meaningful and fun ways; for example invitations with gold foil-lined envelopes written in gold ink to a champagne fountain overflowing with golden champagne at the reception are nice touches to a Golden Anniversary Celebration. Perhaps most importantly, it is wise to consider the age of the celebrating couple. Sometimes it is easier for their friends (and for the couple themselves) to have a brunch or afternoon reception that is complete before it gets too late in the evening. Check with the couple to find out their wishes.

Here are some unique ideas, which have been implemented in the past:

•Invitations done in gold-painted pots filled with foil-wrapped chocolate coins inviting guests to a "golden treasure celebration."

•45 RPM records spray painted in gold for an invitation to a "gold record" celebration.

•Favors: Petite gift wrapped mini boxes (in gold) of Godiva chocolates, small gold jewelry boxes, Subtle golden touches at each reception place setting such as: golden napkin holders, gold-trimmed charger plates (check with your caterer on these options), gold taper candles or gold floating candles in a bowl of water on a mirror is lovely and dramatic in the evening; cocktail lamps in gold on each table cast an intimate, romantic feel reminiscent of a bygone era (similar to Orient Express), sprinkle the dance floor with gold dust (confetti).

•Have guests sign the mat of an enlarged portrait photograph of the anniversary couple (either a recent photo or perhaps their wedding photo) in gold metallic ink.

•Have a family photo taken during the celebration and present it after the party to the anniversary couple (in a gold frame, of course).

75th Wedding Anniversary (Diamond):

This anniversary is worthy of nothing short of a spectacular presentation. Think sparkle. Everything should gleam and represent the sparkle that has kept this couple together for so long. Since most couples celebrating this landmark anniversary, an early afternoon brunch or late afternoon celebration may be best. If in doubt, check with the couple.

•Set the stage for the event with the invitation.

•Continue the sparkle at the reception with imitation rhinestones strewn on a path marking the way to the reception room.

•Several Diamond Anniversary parties borrowed ideas from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's for decorating and theme suggestions.

•Stud the guest book with rhinestones.

•Make sure the cake is a diamond masterpiece. Talk to your baker about suggestions he/she has. Ask if they have accessories to complement the cake on the cake table, such as imitation diamonds/rhinestones or specialty rhinestone-gilded linens with which to drape the cake table.

•Many locations have special linens for special occasions. Ask. Or specialty linen companies such as BBJ Linen can work with anyone anywhere in the country to provide an array of linens that are nothing short of artwork with silver, rhinestones and much more.

•Consider diamond-studded candelabra centerpieces; use flat mirrors with rhinestones sprinkled around the base and floating candles in special bowls or vases to pick up the reflection and sparkle.

•Make sure the couple of honor receives a dramatic entrance. Have someone (usually the MC) announce their arrival to the party.
